  • Affiliate marketing - my second check

Filed under: Affiliate marketing by Sasha on April 28, 2008

Today I have received my second affiliate commission in the amount of 256.50$. It is not much but it makes a man (me) very happy. Since I have started this blog it was losing a little bit every month by covering my hosting bills. My hosting provider is pretty good and I was paying only 5$ per month for my reseller package. Great customer support by the way. The rate and the package increased to 7$ per month which is still good. So overall I have spent $165.75 on hosting bills and roughly 10$ for a domain name.

So 175.75$ spent and 133.5+256.5$ which leads to 214.25$ of profit. Nice isn’t it? At least I get to write my blog and not worrying about will I be able to pay my hosting bills.

Please don’t ask me which affiliate program did I use, you can find it yourself ;)

This blog also made a couple of bucks with Google Adsense close to 50$. I’m pretty sure that my earnings will grow in the next few months so keep your eyes open and subscribe to my RSS feed to get information as fast as possible.

How to get 2000 highly targeted rss subscriptions

Filed under: Marketing blog news by Sasha on April 27, 2008

I have never liked rss and I don’t really know why. It is very cool thing, keeps you more organized and more up to date than anything else. Still, I have a trouble getting used to it….

As you may have notice there is not “Subscribe to” buttons or link currently right here. This is going to change today. I have set myself a goal of getting 2000 rss subscribers and I’m going to do whatever it takes to get them. Well, almost whatever.

First things first, After I publish this post you’ll notice Feedburner counter and new subscription links/images/buttons/something and this is the first step on my trip to 2000 subscribers.

    Wish me good luck.

SEO is too important too be left to the SEO department

Marketing is too important to be left to the marketing department.

I believe that many of you have read this line before. Seth Godin quoted it in his “Purple Cow”, the book which I’m reading right now and which gave me an inspiration for this post.

SEO is now an industry, a big industry indeed. A lot of money, a lot of work and a lot of competition. Yes, a lot of competition. A lot. I believe that there is no market today that is not saturated with at least 20 products which help you in one way or another. SEO itself is a great example, how many SEO companies are there now? How many of them could you find 15 years ago? The market got saturated, it is a fact.

How to create purple SEO cow?

Your are new, you know how to do seo, you have optimized a couple of sites and you have great results. Now you want to start your seo company, how can you do it? Legal parts of starting a company are not important, what is important is how to market yourself between thousands of other seo companies?

    Purple Cow

    The solution

Call your company “Pruple Cow SEO” :). Ok, I’m kidding. First thing that comes to mind when marketing a SEO company is to do SEO for it. Wait, didn’t you say that the market is too saturated? I’m glad that you paid attention. Market is too saturated to do plain old SEO even though it is the only thing your company does.

In order to stand out give you clients something that they want, free tools, widgets, applications. Build a blog. Give stuff for free. Connect with bloggers.

Bloggers can help you a lot. By connecting I don’t mean buying links/reviews but be friends, post about each other.

    The ultimate solution

You and your team could be insane enough to name your company something like “Purple Cow SEO”. If you do then dress up in purple suits and go to every conference you can afford. I bet that will get you word of mouth advertising and many many backlinks. You don’t believe me? Try it ;)

    Marketing blog 2.0

Filed under: Marketing blog news by Sasha on April 13, 2008

Looking at my last post, better say blop, I have notice how much time have passed since I wrote it. Even though I have been busy it was not like I didn’t have enough time to write a couple of posts. Right now I’m considering writing a post every day before work. That way I could be sure to post regularly and these days one must post on regular basis to keep the readers occupied right?

So what’s new with this blog and what’s up with the title? Well, two days ago I have decide that it is about time to make it look more web 2.0 like. So I have started to do design my new template. The design itself is finished and it has been sliced, now it is left to make it table less and of coarse to code it for Wordpress 2.5

While checking my stats I have noticed many visitors with adult oriented keywords. This is the consequence of my SEO girls post (look a couple of posts down). What can one learn from this? Trust rank with good title can give you more visitors but sometimes they won’t be targeted :)

For a while now, almost two years, I have been fighting with myself about leaving comments on blogs that I read. Now I have decided to leave a reply on every post I read because I like to see people commenting on my blog and it is also a good way to bring more targeted visitors.

I’m going to finish my coffee and end this post ;)

p.s. here is a sneak a peek preview of my new logo designed by owner of Split News
